Sweatshop 573 Metropolitan Avenue Brooklyn NY 11211
Nestled deep in the heart of Hipstertown, in a nondescript basement on Metropolitan Avenue in Brooklyn, lies The Sweatshop. Not a sweatshop but The Sweatshop, a musical practice space for rock musicians(and others I suppose). For starters, you better know where you are going, because the place is poorly labeled. Once you do get inside, you will find a narrow hallway with practice rooms up and down on both sides. The price is pretty reasonable at 15 bucks per hour, and the rooms comfortably fit and accommodate a five piece band. The staff is generally helpful and the equipment ie the amps are decent. One note of caution. They say they rotate the amps, but the times we have played in the space next to the mixing board where the staff hangs out, we had the same shitty amps. All in all, not a bad deal for 15 dollars an hour. More information about the space and contact info can be found here.
