The Living Room, February 9th
By Will Rausch | 02/10/2007 | in NY Show ReviewsWhat started as a night of non-musical bonding over MoMA and mexican food turned into an excursion to a brand new venue. The trip to the Living Room, a seated venue on Ludlow Street with NO cover, provided some very unexpected entertainment.
Cat Power loves her pigeons
By Stephanie Butler | 02/06/2007 | in NY Show Reviews
Last night I, along with 300 or so fellow pigeons, braved the arctic cold of Manhattan to see Cat Power at the Hiro Ballroom (I should say here that “pigeon” is Chan Marshall’s favorite term of endearment, bestowed on friends and strangers alike). It was an exciting night for me because I’d never seen Cat Power for myself, although I’d heard plenty about her notorious live act. Of the four people I can think of offhand who’ve seen her shows, three said they were awful and one said it was the worst musical experience of his life. And this is after she’d cleaned up, gotten sober, and was supposedly more together.
